Answers to Common Questions

1. Where is Camp MiVoden?
Camp MiVoden is located on 540 private acres of forested land on the shore of beautiful Hayden Lake in northern Idaho, 45 miles east of Spokane.

2. How do you select your counselors?
All staff members go through a rigorous application process which includes multiple references, a personal interview, and national background checks. Decisions are made on the basis of experience and interest in working with children and skill and experience in outdoor activities. Most of our staff are CPR certified and many also have training in First Aid, Wilderness First Aid, Wilderness First Responder, Lifeguard Training and other advanced certifications.

3. What is the weather like?
Camp MiVoden is famous for blue skies and plenty of sun. The camps' average daytime temperature in the summer is about 75 degrees F. Evenings are cool, usually 50-55 degrees F. Because we're located in the mountains, it is best to be prepared for a variety of weather conditions.

4. How will my child get to camp?
Most of our campers arrive by car with parents, other family members, or friends. Other campers arrive by bus or fly into the Spokane International Airport. Staff members meet children at the airport, help them collect their luggage, and take them to camp. Upon arrival at camp, these campers are greeted by staff members and their luggage is delivered to their living units. The fun begins right away!

5. Does Camp MiVoden have a religious affiliation?
Yes. We are opperated by the Seventh-day Adventist church. Each evening we have a camp fire time that helps campers understand God's amazing love and plan for their life.

6. What kind of medical care do you provide?
Our camp has a well-equipped health center with a registered nurse on duty. We work closely with physicians in Coeur d'Alene and Spokane. It is a 20-minute drive to Coeur d'Alene Hospital and there is an EMT service based in Hayden.

7. How is your food?
If you talk to anyone who has been to camp, they will tell you that our food is excellent. Our cooks prepare well-balanced meals from fresh ingredients. We provide vegetarian meals and are able to make accommodations for some food allergies.

8. Do you allow electronic devices at camp?
Consistent with our goals of promoting self-reliance, strong social connections and appreciation of the natural world, we limit the use of electronic devices at Camp MiVoden. Campers should not bring cell phones, laptop computers, video games, MP3 players, iPods or DVD players to camp. When campers carry any of these items for travel to and from camp, we will collect and store the items during the session and return them for the trip home.
